Tower O Blocks

Amelia has recently discovered "towers." We use legos a lot. One night, Nick and she decided it would be fun to use all of the blocks we own. They made a GREAT tower.
We had a great Thanksgiving. It made me realize how truly blessed we are. I am so thankful for our wonderful friends and family and everything that Heavenly Father has given us. We ate at a friends house and enjoyed great food and company. We are really looking forward to the Christmas season. It is Mia's second Christmas but her first one she "understands." She is excited to see Grandparents and revel in being a grandkid.

Halloween Festivities

WE LOVE HALLOWEEN. The past week we have been preparing and reveling in the glory of free candy...I mean, enjoying the spirit of community and friendship that comes from going door to door with your dressed up munchkin. Ha ha. Amelia had a great time. On Monday, we carved pumpkins. Nick always gets really into the carving part and does something fancy. Mia wasn't so sure about the inside of the pumpkin and when we put her hand inside the pumpkin she whipped her arm out and gave us both a dirty look like "how dare you." Then I, being playful, put some of the pumpkin guts on her arm and she proceeded to fling them about the living room. Perfect. Mia got more into the pumpkin carving thing has we started carving and graciously decided to help Dad. He appreciated it to no end. Then just as Nick finished carving her pumpkin she decided it was like her shape box and started poking all of his hard work. Thank heavens for toothpicks!

The big day finally came. Amelia had been carrying her little candy pumpkin around for days saying "tee, tee" (treat, treat). So, we finally went. She dressed as Cinderella (her favorite movie, and one that I now have memorized). She had a great time. She got lots of candy (yeah, it's for her. We have sampled some of it for "safety" purposes). Amelia loved socializing with everyone. Since Halloween, however, it has been hard to convince her that she can't randomly knock on people's doors and expect candy. Whoo. How to explain that one. Anyway, hope everyone else had a great day too!

The Toothbrush War

So, Amelia is a "big girl" now. She doesn't want the baby toothbrush, she wants a big one like moms. Needless to say, mom is getting a new toothbrush, tomorrow. Amelia has also discovered the sink is a fun place. Every chance she gets, it is her new lazyboy. Genetics. Go figure.

Amelia is definitely a true blue all-American girl. She loves her burger and fries. Recently, we went to a fav burger place (Five Guys) and got take out. We got home, set the bag on the floor and walked out. When we came back into the room...Amelia had staked her claim and it took a little bit of coercion to convince her that Mama and Dad wanted some too.

Our Ward just had their Annual fall festival/chili cookoff. It was a great time. We decided to go as a football team. Rachel went dressed as a football player (darn no pictures), Nick went as a coach and Amelia went as the cheerleader. After the chili festivities the ward then has a trunk or treat for the kids. Amelia discovered trick or treating. It took her a few cars to figure stuff out but when she realized all the candy was for her (yeah right, pretty sure mom and dad killed the whole lot after she went to bed...excepting the suckers. Do give us some credit) she got right into the game. She was so sticky afterwards. Whoo! This picture is a before shot. Her Dad has taught her the ever famous "touchdown!" signal. She even does it on command.

Week of Sep 23, 2007

Hi Everyone!

This week was super busy but we did a lot! Nick took a few midterms and did amazing!

On Wednesday, Rachel helped the beehives learn how to make pies to fulfill a Young Women personal progress goal (and they were beautiful!!).

On Thursday, Rachel took part in fundraiser for a presidential candidate. It was interesting and she really appreciated all of you who helped her fulfill her assigned goal. Go team!

On Friday, we all went to a football party at our friends' apartment. The pictures are of Amelia in her cheer leading costume. She was a good cheerer!
On Saturday, we went to the National Book Festival in DC. It was unbelievable! There were bus loads of people there! Amelia met some of her favorite PBS characters and we walked through some of the displays for various genre of books. It was really fun and Amelia mostly enjoyed being packed around in the back pack.

Hope everyone had a great week.

Virginia Beach Campout

Last weekend we went to Virginia Beach and camped at First Landing State Park. It was a blast! We weren't sure how Amelia would react to the ocean but our curiousity definetely vanished the second her monkey toes hit the sand. She took off running. She was pointing at rocks, chasing crabs and sea gulls (also trying to convince the sea gulls that sand was good to eat) and splashing in the water. She was, as my Dad fondly refers to her, a blonde tornado. Mia was so enthusiastic; Nick had to jump in the water a few times so she didn't float off to sea. We even saw Dolphins!

This was our first camping trip without our parents culinary camping skills and we fared pretty well. We know not what to do next time and our cobbler turned out lip smacking good.

The portable DVD player also came in handy when we were trying to, well let's get real here. A 16 month bundle of curiousity can be too much help sometimes.
